I Can’t Feel My Feet Anymore – I Think I Have Been Reading On The Crapper Too Long

So Jeannie came through again.  She is one of the main ringmasters at my home away from home:  the public library.  Last time she had the newest Dresden Files novel for me – no fault of hers that it blew.  This time around it was the newest novel by another of my favourite authors – The Burning Soul by John Connolly.

Unlike Jim Butcher’s Ghost Story, this novel is everything I expect from the author – and then some.  I am almost half way through the novel and I cannot figure where the story is going to end up going (in this case, it is a good thing).  All I know is that I am enjoying the ride and I expect to be surprised and shocked by what happens to Charlie Parker – the toughest, hardest good guy (who is a bad guy) this side of Joe Pike.

Charlie Parker is not a good guy – although he works for the forces of good.  His associates, Louis and Angel, are definitely not good guys as they are available to thge highest bidder as killers and enforcers.  They just like working with Charlie Parker.  In fact there are rarely any good guys in one of John Connolly’s novels:  but there are evil (rather than bad) guys aplenty.

So anyway, I am heading back to finish my book –  and at this point I am thinking that unless there is a major letdown at the end, it will be the best Charlie Parker novel.

If Anyone Needs Me, I Will Be On The Crapper With My New Book

So there I was, wandering around the library, minding my own business and look what I found my librarian friends just setting on the shelf.

So for the next few days I am going to be indisposed (except when working).  I’ll let you know if it is any good.
